Essen Spiel Fair
 2001Next page
Some have expressed the opinion that the fair was a bit disappointing this year. I didn't feel that! With 2 public prototype test games and more than 60 games in my luggage I cannot complain. In fact I had to leave many of the games from the bigger publishers behind - but they can be easily bought from retailers if I feel the need...Mik

Meeting new and old Friends!

One of the most pleasurable side effects of going to Essen is that you meet so many nice and friendly gamers from all over the world. I wish to thank you all for giving me such a great time! The following list is very incomplete, and I beg forgiveness for those I have forgotten. The daily impressions are so great that it is almost impossible to remember everyone - and as always did I forget to use my camera at some of my most memorable moments. But here are the names which have stuck:

First of all my own travelling companions: Asger Batting Clausen, Martin Jensen, Dorthe Krog, Anders Nielsen, Eivind Petersen, Mette Riis, Erik Swiatek and Annemette Wolff.

The there were all our friends at hotel Jung: John Bohrer, Geoff Brown, Martin Hair, Martin Wallace, Pete Staab, Tim Cockitt and any other from the Winsome/Warfrog teams I might have forgotten (sorry lads!), Charlie from USA, Richard Dewsbury, Paul Evans, Chris Kovac, Trond Braut and Kjell Inge Torgersen from Norway plus Martin Wieland, Max Michael and Franz-Benno Delonge.

The lovely Helene Barthen, Chris Bayliss, Michelle Bottorff, Erwin Broens, Stefan Brück, Derek Carver, Mike Clifford, Leo Colovini, Günter Cornett, Pitt Crandlemire, George Cranshaw, Stuart Dagger, Franz-Benno Delonge, Dieter Danziger, Brigitte & Wolfgang Ditt, Hagen Dorgarten, Jean du Poel, Terri Egan, Harald Ewald, Bruno Faidutti, Friedeman Friese, Holger Hermann, Maureen Hiron, Ronald Hoekstra, Alan How, Karsten Höser, Andreas Keirat, Elisabeth & Gerhard Kodys, Henning Kröpke, Gerhard H. Kuhlmann, Robert Kurek, Doris Matthäus, Marcel-André Cassasola Merkle, Andy Merritt, Max Michael, Alan Moon, Frank Nestel, John Niecikowski, Patrick O'brien, Mario Pawlowski, Henning Poehl, Scott Porter and Patrick, Hans-Georg Rausch, Hans Reinhold, Uwe Rosenberg, Ralph Sandfuchs, Michael Schacht, Frank Schulte-Kulkmann, Frederic Tanton, Stephen Taverner, Holger Thiesen, Jay Tummelson, Richard Ulrich, Corné van Moorsel, Hartmut Witt, Knut-Michael Wolf and his daughter, the Splotter team, the two guys from Leisure Games, the Fairplay team plus Larry from Mayfair Games.
